A Special Invitation to attend

Volunteering Information Sessions at TCFV

TCFV would like to invite you to come along to the Centre to find out about volunteering.

At these Information sessions, you will hear bereaved parent, sibling and grandparent volunteers talk about their experience of volunteering and find out about the specific opportunities there are to volunteer with TCFV.

Many bereaved members find that volunteering helps them in their grief journey.

“Some members needed to be around other people and found that volunteering at TCFV provided a safe place for them to be with others without the pressure to work.”

“Volunteer work at TCFV gave me a purpose and filled the void in my life. It gave me purpose to get out of bed. I had to get myself to TCFV one day a week.”

“Now, I still go to the group but volunteering and being active has become more relevant.”

“I got a lot from volunteering at TCFV. It kept me busy and I could channel my grief in different ways through helping.”

There are a number of different volunteer roles at TCFV, both at the Centre or at home.

These include:

  • Community Education- talks to health professionals and the community to increase understanding of grief.
  • Help to organise an event for fundraising, education or a workshop for bereavement support and information.
  • Centre work – writing personal anniversary cards, helping at the Centre with administration or in the library.
  • Writing an article for the TCFV magazine, proofread or help to mailout the magazine.
  • Draft a grant application for TCFV funding.
  • Monitoring social media and other marketing outlets etc.

Some volunteer roles require TCFV training. These include:

  • Telephone answering for daytime, nights or weekends
  • Group leadership and group leader supporters
  • Chat Responders (siblings)

The sessions will be held on Saturday 18th June.
